The Slovenian Society for Underground Construction – Young Members Section is pleased to invite you to a workshop for young members, which will be held as part of the 15th International Tunnel Conference. The event will be held on November 19th at the Austria Trend Hotel. Given the excellent response and large attendance two years ago, we are organizing the workshop for young engineers again this year – this time with a refreshed concept, which will be even more dedicated to debates, exchange of experiences and cooperation among young engineers.

This year, we will also be happy to host young engineers from abroad, who will present their projects and views on the development of the profession. Our goal is to build a community where ideas, inspiration and knowledge of future generations of tunnel engineers meet. Don’t forget to spread the news and invite your colleagues – everyone is welcome! And the best thing is that participation in the workshop is free. Register via the link below and secure your place in time!

Workshop for Young Members

The workshop will begin with welcoming speeches and introductory lectures, followed by a combination of short substantive lectures and a discussion with questions, designed to foster in-depth reflection and exchange of ideas between young engineers and lecturers. The workshop will be held in two content sections – the first in English, the second in Slovenian. The goal of the workshop is to encourage open dialogue, collaboration and understanding of the challenges facing modern engineering.

In the first part, we will listen to Gregor Vilhar and Luigi D’Angelo, who will present the engineering paths of two generations. Through their stories, we will learn about the developmental steps on the career path, from the first projects to leadership roles, and an honest look at the challenges, ups and downs that accompany every engineering path.

The second part of the workshop will be dedicated to reflecting on the role of underground space in sustainable urban development and digital tools that are changing work on construction sites. Lecturers Anja Slapničar and Metod Gaber will show, through concrete examples, how innovative thinking and technology help build a smarter, more sustainable future of construction. The workshop will end with a relaxed gathering in the Union Pub, where there will be space for conversation, networking and new ideas.
